This Wednesday, I’ll be giving a lunch-time presentation to the 4th year dental students at the University of Toronto. The presentation will be about associateship agreements and what dentists should know. I am planning on recording the presentation for those students who miss it.
The topic is going to be an interesting one for dental students. During the presentation, I’ll briefly review:
- Oral vs. written agreements
- Employee vs. independent contractor associates
- Typical clauses in an associate agreement
- Restrictive covenants (e.g. confidentiality, non compete, and non-disclosure)
I’ve already received a number of questions from interested dental students about these types of agreements – particularly because dental students are curious to know when they need to hire a lawyer / accountant and whether they should get a lawyer to review the agreement.
In a future post, I’ll post the video for those students (and interested parties) who could not attend. Part of the presentation is being sponsored by Crown Tech Dental.
